Urban Renewal and Slum Transformation Project of Erzincan Bazaar District was launched in 2003 within the framework of a protocol with the Municipality of Erzincan. With the project awarded by TOKİ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey), not only the Bazaar district has been cleared of unhealthy and rotten buildings in Erzincan city center, but also modern living spaces were created including dwellings, school, mosque, shopping center, parks and recreational areas.

As a result of the evaluation meeting held in 2008, conducted by UN_HABITANT and Dubai Municipality jointly on the "Best International Practices", the "Urban Renewal and Slum Transformation Project of Erzincan Bazaar District" has been awarded.
